Radio Ink Top 40 People in Radio 2022

Friday Review: Radio Ink – 40 Most Powerful People in Radio 2022

Posted on 15 July 20228 November 2022 By earlp

The BIGGEST issue of Radio Ink hit the in-boxes and stands this week – and as always it is a great read. Why? For the Top 40 and because of 2 big articles – making this – in my opinion THE BEST issue of the year.

The annual TOP 40 MOST POWERFUL PEOPLE IN RADIO issue of RADIO INK

First is Roy H Williams article on “HOT TO 5X THE UNDERPERFORMING STATION IN YOUR CLUSTER” A great short read (as usual Roy!) And the best thing is – that Roy’s wisdom here is spot on. If you have multiple stations being sold at your workplace – then the lowest performing one should be handled by just ONE Account Executive – kicking their sales into high gear and selling to all of those businesses that can’t afford the top performing stations.

Next is Alec Drake’s ‘5th STEP IN SALES MANAGER MEASUREMENT”. Alec is talking about sales management performance – but specifically measurement of it – from the obsolete to the latest measurements – and while he is talking about a specific product – it was a good read – especially when talking about incentives and reviews.

Other articles worth having a quick skim through include: Buzz Knight’s ‘The Most Important Leadership Traits For Radio In The 21st Century’ and Radio Ink’s editor Ed Ryan’s report on Ed Atsinger the winner of the 2022 Lifetime Leadership Award – really worth sitting down and having a long read of.

The rest of the issue I found myself drifting from one of the top 40 most powerful people in radio to the next, no true nuggets of information uncovered – but as always with this annual issue – it’s interesting to see people who have been on the list for years growing and developing – and new talent too.
