OK the magazine gods have spoken and I have to stop my complaining about AdWeek Magazine not covering anything audio or radio related – why? This weeks issue – that’s why!
So yes, I was shocked and couldn’t believe it when this weeks issue arrived in my in-box.
Adweek – covering ANYTHING audio is amazing – but having a grand total of 4 articles on audio/radio (and one amazing piece from PERSPECTIVE on the FENDER – which was a really good read) I really thought all of my Christmases had come at once!
So let’s dive in – the UPFRONT Talent Pool interview with Paul Suchman (CMO of Audacy) was an interesting read, especially his background to where he is now – interesting!
Not radio related – but if you are a fan of ‘Better Call Saul’ then the INSIGHTS section on the show was a fascinating read.
Next THE STATE OF SOUND article on Podcasting and audio accessibility was very, very good reading – a great article indeed from Mesert Ambachew. The thing is – I feel this article contains major insights for radio – really everyone in radio should read it.
This issues DATAPOINTS – which I usually love reading is about Influencers and personally – meh!
The next ‘must read’ is about AdWeeks Podcast of the Year “Maejor Frequency” and for a double page spread – there is a LOT in here to unpack – a great read, really well written article by Catherine Perloff.
Then all the PODCAST OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNERS are run through – and it’s worth having a look and seeing what podcasts you may have missed out on.
Yes there’s another article on the Audio Industry – “CAN SPOTIFY REVOLUTIONIZE ADS?” by Mark Stenberg – and while it’s an interesting read, I personally think Spotify might be treading softly, softly with their customers – not wanting a NETFLIX style backlash and cancellations.
There you have it – an ADWEEK MAGAZINE that’s worth actually reading and framing – although they still seem to be steering clear of a weekly section on Radio – I will give applause where I think it is deserved.
