A late review for last week’s edition of Radio Ink…

Roy H Williams hits the nail on the head almost 100% of the time, and it’s only on that rare .001% of the time I disagree with him – and this issue’s article from Roy titled “Man Bites Dog” – has only one point I would disagree with him on… ‘Radio Sucks at Targeting’, that’s Roy’s words not mine.
Branded Content and how to make money from it is another good read in this issue from Matty Staudt – focussing on podcasting, Matty makes some very good points here and is well worth the read.
Next Alec Drake asks the question “Do Radio Sellers Suffer From Lead Overload?” and I can totally see where Alec is coming from on this one – in fact it’s something that all sales people should look at – do you have too many leads that aren’t qualified?
Radio Ink editor Ed Ryan takes the bull by the horns and does a deep dive into the Latino community and radio – its a fascinating article focusing on Jess Morales Rocketto & Stephanie Valencia. I really, really enjoyed reading this as Latino radio habits are not that different to everyone else’s, even though we have been lead to believe otherwise.
If your management team are looking at adding a syndicated program to the line-up the next article in the September issue has a panel of experts answering that question. Not really relevant for me in Australia, but interesting if you are US based.
Next the 30 year anniversary of the Radio Wayne finalists gets a big wrap up over many pages until the the of the issue – it’s interesting to say the diversity of backgrounds and people in the Radio Wayne Awards.
And that’s a wrap on this months issue of Radio Ink.
