Another very, very short set of curated news items this week – the old inter-webs has not held a great deal for me as I have scoured the corners that I usually lurk in and around.
RADIO SALES:
We know that a couple of Sales Managers read the blog (from the feedback we have gotten from them over certain articles) and on the RADIO INK website there is a great article that they might like to read… HOW TO FIND AND MOTIVATE GREAT SALES PEOPLE
Speaking of great sales people – BSM BARRETT MEDIA have an article about Herb Tarlek, The Most Famous Radio Salesperson Who Never Lived – the name may sound familiar to us oldies – think back, away back… way back to WKRP IN CINCINNATI – Yes! That Herb Tarlek! And he did teach us a few things about how to collect money from clients and the right businesses to go after (maybe not!). The article is written by Jeff Caves – and although short it is worth reading.
SURVEYS:
(Commercial Radio Australia) CRA announces new audience measurement system for radio surveys – via Mediaweek. This hybrid system looks interesting and could be a game changer for radio surveys so this article is worth a read.
COPYWRITING:
INSIDE RADIO have an interesting article about: How Radio Messaging Needs To Change This Holiday Season. It’s a good point that you might want to consider when writing that next spot with a festive theme.
SAD NEWS:
British radio presenter dies live on air during breakfast show… A man sits at a radio desk and smiles at the camera. Radio presenter Tim Gough was just 55 years old when he died during his breakfast radio show.
