The last issue for the year of Radio Ink hit us this week and it feels like months since the last issue (I don’t know why that is)… was it worth the wait?

I was interested to snaffle up a copy of this issue for a couple of reasons:
- The Features in this issue
- The 10 ideas to generate business article
- As always ROY H WILLIAMS “The Wizard of Ads” column
- Radios 30 under 30 (always a good read)
- And the cover story on SAGA’s new CEO
- Plus all the rest of the issue.
I wasn’t disappointed and although I usually read each issue from cover to cover, I decided to jump in with the “10 Ideas to Generate New Business” by Dani Buckley first. It’s a great column and one that I was eager to share with the team I work with as we are already forward planning for next year. I love Dani’s take on lead generation is worth reading this for.
I then jumped back to the beginning for Deborah Parenti’s surprisingly honest take on ‘seasoned radio pros’ – I found it refreshing.
Next is president of Wizard of Ads column main headline “WHEN WILL MY ADS START WORKING!” so timely as I have had 3 clients this week say this very thing to me – so I was eager to read Roys take on it and I am glad to say we are on the same page (WHEW!)
Now I will say I have read a lot from DAN KENNEDY over the years, some I agree with, the majority that is. But sometimes I find Dan’s take a bit frustrating, and I disagree with him on what he says at times – but this time I Agree – too much can lead to not enough focus. And that’s about advertising, sales and life. Read this – you won’t regret it.
Next the cover article on SAGA’s new CEO Chris Forgy – interesting as always for a cover story. Chris took over from Ed Christian and the story of Chris taking the reigns are a really good read. I was especially taken with Chris’ response about living the culture that he tries to create and how the teams at SAGA seem to get that.
30 Under 30 Superstars was next – and wow our industry has some amazing talent in it – I am super impressed with these people and they give me hope for our industry moving forward.
While there are other articles and columns in this issue – these were the highlights for me.
