RADIO PROMOTIONS:
I did a double take – REALLY – when I read this – Grandad, 86, won sex with two prostitutes in radio contest but died hours before romp. Via the Daily Star – Johnny Orris’ grandson entered him into the ‘Get My Grandfather Laid’ competition on the Howard Stern Radio Show, but he sadly died just hours before while eating a steak.
This is an AWESOME puzzle series from Public Radio Tulsa – The Sunday Puzzle – It’s an On-air challenge: Will Shortz is going to read you some sentences. Each sentence contains the name of a fruit hidden in consecutive letters. Great idea for a promotion/competition!
Can’t find the right track to put behind a promotion? Ask your listeners – that’s what ABSOLUITE RADIO are doing with the “WHAT IS THE GREATEST GUITAR ANTHEM OF ALL TIME” promotion – awesome idea – especially if you have those tracks in your play list – if not – it could be an issue.
BBC Breakfast’s 500 Words Competition is BACK! First launched by Chris Evans on Radio 2’s breakfast show in 2011, the popular UK-wide competition continued with his successor Zoe Ball until 2020. Now – it is back… this is a great promo idea that could work in any location.
Win A PINATA PARTY – Great idea from Virgin Radio in Canada.
ON-AIR:
This is BRILLIANT! It’s not often you get to watch hosts on-air doing their thing but you can see the confusion on these JOX’s faces as an interview their Sherriff takes an unsuspected turn when the Sherriff chases a suspect – great stuff from 1025TheBone.
COMMUNITY RADIO NEWS:
UK’s Radio Today reported that OFCOM Awards 17 Radio Stations with cash while rejected 29. It’s an interesting list of awarded stations to go through.
RADIO SALES:
Alec Drake’s column on the Radio Ink website called A TALE OF TWO RADIO REVENUES was an interesting read – especially about planning and interplay between departments.
Paul Kelly in the latest FORBES Online Magazine post has given 3 Predictions for Audio Advertising in the year ahead – some controversial – others spot on – I think.
Inside Radio – has a very, very interesting read about EDUCATING ADVERTISERS – it’s very interesting stuff about consumers making home improvements and renovations.
