Please note that I have been un-able to get through to the RadioInk website from any computer/phone/device in the past 2 weeks – I keep on getting a 403 Forbidden error and as such no Radio Ink links are included this week. I have managed to connect using a VPN, and it only works if I hit the site from a USA based connection? I have tried to also reach RadioInk to let them know of this issue.
ALL OF RADIO:
NAB Launches New “We Are Broadcasters” Ad Campaign – its quite good too! – Via the RadioWorld.com website – check out the TV and Radio spots yourself – HERE
Brilliant! 30 great ideas from RadioDays Europe – via Radio Info – some top ideas here.
An interesting launch – Meet The New :30 – Visual Messages, Displayed During Station Programming. Via Inside Radio – finally one of the promises of HD/DAB radio is fulfilled!
The Australian News Parody site – The Betoota Advocate did a very good ‘take’ on radio call-ins that I think everyone in the industry can identify with: Local Radio Show Breaks The Mould With Clue Based Guessing Competition
COPY:
This was a great one – that everyone – no matter which department you are in, in radio – should listen to (or at least read) – Albert Read talks to Chris Evans about how to have more good ideas – I couldn’t agree more – the more creative we are – the better the questions we ask – and the better the story becomes – I have ordered my copy of the book ‘The Imagination Muscle‘
Via Inside Radio – ‘Test Your Ad’ Expands To Radio, Podcast And Audio Advertising. I would love to hear what people think of this and how it went.
SALES:
Inside Radio ran a story on an expected 10% growth in sales across the radio industry based on a survey of sales managers -0 good to see that amount of confidence in your own industry – read the story – HERE
There’s a new platform out there that brings unprecedented access to in-vehicle listener data – or so it claims – and Business Wire did a story on it – Xperi’s DTS AutoStage Unleashes the Power of In-Car Audience Analytics for Radio Broadcasters.

PROMOTIONS:
This is an interesting one that could be taken a step beyond what it is – imagine a city wide garage sale with a roving radio crew who call into random sales on the day and cross back to the studio telling people where they are and what’s on sale – someone please do this! “Adrian to have city wide garage sale“
A top article from CBC.CA about how to win competitions and promotions – and it got me thinking that every radio station should give clues to listeners on their own websites how to do this. Read – HOW TO BEAT THE ODDS and maybe do your own thing.
Nike Created a Pirate Radio Station to Pay Homage to Underground Music for Air Max Day – interesting promotional idea, and if you have the bandwidth – its a great promotional idea. Via AdWeek website.
COPYWRITER WEBSITE HIGHLIGHT:
If you want an example of a great copywriter and voice talent website – you can’t go past HELEN MOORHOUSE‘s site. Helen has got it all from her voice over work to script writing/speaches/her novels and more on the site, but I wish I could hear some of her spots. Instead of just having the logos pop up when you click on them. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great site, and fantastic pitch for prospective customers – only let down by having no actual examples.
(The same rules apply here as to the rest of this site:
I receive no payment, no endorsement or anything at all for recommending anything I talk about)
