The April 10 issue of Radio Ink could not have arrived at a better time – why? Because there were 3 articles which could have been written just for today.
First the Publishers Beat with Deborah Parenti – and it’s a call to action about mental health in the industry.
How our workplaces can handle themselves better and 4 very, very good suggestions from Deborah about things that we call can do together…

Briefly they are:
1. Create a supportive work environment.
2. Provide access to resources.
3. Offer training to reduce stigma, increase awareness and promote action.
4. Don’t make assumptions about behaviour or performance.
As I said this was such a timely article that I wanted to blow it up to poster size and print it out to post on every workplace wall.
Next: As always the insightful Roy H Williams talked about radio being a part of a clients solution, online social media and Google Ad-Words (not so much). It’s a great 2 page read and one for sales team members as well as Copywriters.
Flicking through and pointing out some other highlights from the issue… Pat Bryson’s SELLING ADVERTISING THAT WORKS is 100% accurate… Alec Drake has an insightful column on the 5 Keys for Mastering Sales Relationships – it is a brilliant read.
Lisa Goldberg follow’s on the first article in the issue, (Deborah’s article ‘A Call To Action’) by talking about the importance of supporting your team and employee engagement. It’s a top and timely read for me.

Finally, we get to my 3rd favourite article, the cover interview with Steve Newberry – and WOW! Steve has had an amazing journey. Ed Ryan did a brilliant 9 pages with Steve – he could have easily done more – and I really enjoyed the deep dive into Steve’s philosophy and story.
The last piece of the Radio Ink April 2023 issue is the RADIO’s TOP 25 Leaders ‘bit’. 3 questions were asked of each one and there were some very different answers here – always a good thing in my book (I hate it when everyone agrees).
A top issue from the team at Radio Ink – buy a copy and read it – you’ll laugh, cry, be inspired and maybe more supportive of your team at the end of the issue.
