Radio Ink’s site is accessible again from outside the US (YAY!) and today we have a tonne of great stories that you may have missed from around the world.
I am not covering the sales of some very high profile stations – as these have been over covered on other websites – but it is interesting to see what the business community sees as the value of owning a radio station is.
ALL RADIO:
Radio saved AM radio in vehicles twice already – can we do it for a 3rd time? as Radio Ink asks a good question given some of the car manufacturers decisions lately. There’s also an interesting read on the WGN Radio site about the future (2032) of Electric Vehicles and Radio – worth the read! And finally – FORBES covered the backlash on the phasing out of AM Radio in vehicles.
An interesting one – With an Eye on Streaming, Nielsen Audio Launches Market-Wide TLR – via RADIO WORLD – Total Line Reporting on streaming should be very interesting indeed.
And some positive news about radio station sales is covered on the Radio Facts site – Urban One, A ‘Thank You’ Message – by Kevin Ross – it’s a great message from the heart.
PROMOTIONS:
This is brilliant and deserves to be shouted to the four corners of the earth – what a great promotion – Via The ATLANTIC – The world’s largest trivia competition in Wisconsin – with a twist. It’s a 54 hour competition where local knowledge and some smart thinking wins prizes.
ON-AIR:
Did Radio Not Listen To The Listeners? – it’s a big question that Radio Insight‘s Sean Ross asks. Who is listening to the response though?
It’s like SPRING WATCH (UK TV) but on the radio – in THE AUDIO GUIDE TO SPRING FROM RED PINE RADIO – sounds Awesome! Via Interlochen Public Radio
BBC Radio host suffers a ‘heart issue’ live on-air after a David FitzgeraldĀ had a hunger games style interview with management – OUCH! Story via the Daily Mail
SALES:
Mark Greenspan via Radio Ink talks about Closing Radio Sales – and it’s a damn good read! He talks about closing those difficult sales with closing ratios – great concept that I can’t wait to see in practice.
And another from Radio Ink – Loyd Ford talks about connecting with clients using the ‘E’ Word... read the story to find out what that is! This article (I suggest) should be read by all COPYWRITERS and SALES people as it is vital to our success in keeping clients.
And that’s it for today.
