Radio Copywriters Not Breaking News

RCNews: Sunday 23rd April, 2023

SALES:
Pat Bryson at Radio Info Australia has an interesting article on WHAT RESULTS DO YOUR CLIENTS EXPECT FROM THEIR ADVERTISING and I don’t know if I totally agree with Pat – but some good points are raised in it.

A story from the NAB Show – via Inside Radio – in an article called: Broadcasters Tackle Multiplatform Monetization At NAB Show – it was interesting, and has some cross over with the article on Radio Ink below about radio positioning itself – so I say read both.

Radio Listeners Have Become More Budget Conscious, And Their Spending Habits Show It... according to a Provoke Insight article on Inside Radio – its a survey result driven story – and goes to show how savvy our listeners are.

ALL RADIO:
I didn’t report on this last week – maybe I should have? With the Google devices not being able to play for the past couple of days – it’s been interesting how many calls we have had at the radio station (I have taken around 25 myself – we had around 100+) MEDIA WEEK Australia covers it HERE.

A very, very, VERY interesting article from RADIO INK and the NAB Show – How Does Radio Position itself in 2023 – I think no matter which department, where and how you work in radio – you should read this! It got me all fired up!

Now for a REALLY LONG READ – The Australian based AdNews site, and Jason Pollock did an article on the Outlook of Radio – earlier in the week – and while it is encouraging to see some good spin and takes on the Q1 figures, it was also encouraging to see some of the thoughts that I have on radio reflected – the need for more measurements, etc.

Reuters reported that SWEDISH RADIO IS THE FIRST BIG BROADCASTER TO QUIT TWITTER – Wow – very interesting!

South Africa has some brilliant radio talent working across the board – and the BizCommunity site (and Simon Parkinson) covered how Non-Traditional Radio Solutions Deliver Strong Results it’s short – and more of a pitch to use agencies for radio – but the sentiment is 100% accurate – bring back the fun people!

PUBLIC/COMMUNITY RADIO:
Listen up: It’s Radio Boise Spring Radiothon is on again – I am all for supporting radio raising money to stay open. Story by Tracy Bringhurst on KTVB.com

PROMOTIONS:
Barrett Media‘s Jason Barrett had a BRILLIANT article about radio needing to bring back the fun – couldn’t agree more!
