Long time readers and fans of Ed Ryan (the seemingly been every where and done everything heart behind each issue) is leaving Radio Ink at the end of June. Deborah Parenti did a wonderful job of summing up everything that we as readers see, and what the staff and herself see’s in a 20 year long road.
Seriously I have chatted with Ed by email and he does everything Deborah says and more – he will be sorely missed. If you want to hear Ed and his wife Kim, look out for the Beach Talk Radio podcast and you’ll be able to hear the passion that he has.
Lainie Peterson is taking over in August, she has big shoes to fill, and from her years of experience I feel the magazine wil be in good hands.
Anyway – onto the contents…
Sure there is a lot of the usual stuff from Lisa Goldberg on Hustle, Migration issues from Alec Drake, and an insightful article on practical strategties to improve revune performance by Elissa Nauful – the stand out 4 pages from the one and only Roy H Williams about ‘The Wizard Of Ads Principles of Radio Scheduling’ was a standout read.
I know that many of my readers know that I respect the heck out of Roy, and love his articles – this one though is in my top 2, no scratch that I am making this official – this is my number ONE favourite article from Roy. You nailed it!
The cover story about Angela Yee’s 20 year journey through radio and giving back was inspirational. And you can see why August 28 is ‘Angela Yee Day’ in New York.
Next is the yearly feature ‘The Most Influential Women in Radio’ (actually 24 years since the original version of the list) and it’s another incredible selection of hard working talented people on this years list. Each of their stories and dedication shines through and should inspire first timers and old timers to enjoy the fruits of their labour more.
This issue has got to be one of the best – well done Ed – and the team at Radio Ink.
Cheers and thanks for your work.
